Metatargalsia

About

Metatarsalgia is a common problem that can affect the joints and bones of the metatarsal foot bones. The condition is often limited to the first metatarsal head - the ball of the foot just behind the big toe.  Symptoms include aching or pain in the ball of the foot while standing, walking or even at rest.

Relief:

If you suspect you have metatarsalgia, you should see your podiatrist for a diagnosis as the symptoms could be another type of condition.   Properly fit, high quality footwear can provide the support and cushioning which is essential to pain relief.  A rocker-type sole to help you roll through the gait cycle can also provide relief.

P.W. Minor shoes have several features that can help provide relief from metatarsalgia including:

  • extra cushioning and shock absorption to relieve pain.
  • extra depth to accommodate gel inserts or custom footbeds.
  • rocker soles for a rolling gait that reduces shocks to the ball of the foot while walking.
